Transmission
 
Two power transmission licensees are operating within the Georgian territory "Georgian State ElectroSystem” JSC(GSE) and “Sakrusenergo” JSC.
 
JSC "Georgia State Electrosystem" 
GSE assets include the major part of transmission facilities. The company was set up in November of 2002 on the base of “Electrodispecherizacia 2000” LLC and “Electrogadacema” JSC. From 2003 to 2007 the management of the company was transferred under the 5 year management contract to the affiliate company “ESBI Georgia” LLC of the Irish “ESBI International”.
By virtue of the license issued and the tariff established by the Georgian National Energy Regulatory Commission, electricity transmission licensees are allowed to deliver the locally produced or imported electric energy to the distribution energy companies, direct consumers or the neighbor country`s energy systems without the right to sell and purchase electricity.
Under the GNERC issued license, the dispatcher insures the technical management of the system with a view to securing the stable regime for electric energy supply and consumption.
Since August 2011, GSE was transformed into JSC.
 
 
JSC "Sakrusenergo"
“Sakrusenergo” JSC-united energy system was established” on 27 May, 1996 by the Georgian Government in cooperation with “Russian United Energy System”. Company`s start-up capital is distributed between the founders on a 50-50 % basis. The basic function of the joint stock company is to work in parallel regime with all neighbor country`s energy systems.
The company arranges electricity transmission through intersystem 500 KV electricity transmission lines together with maintenance of lines providing the interconnection between national and neighbor country`s energy systems.
The overall length of the Company`s assets is 908 km. The line section passing through the Georgian territory makes up 600 km and the one available on the territory of Russia-308 km.
